Part of something bigger.

One key support in our Watermark Church plant is Redeemer Church which is based in New York City.  It is so encouraging to know you are a part of something bigger than yourself.  We have sister churches in Taipei, Tokyo, and Kuala Lumpur (and more places).  What we have in common is that we are all planting church(es) in large, international cities.  Redeemer has been instrumental in encouraging and training us in this endeavor.  They have planted many churches in NYC and their model is truly inspiring to us.  We are now part of an amazing network of churches committed to reaching their city and seeing the culture change for the glory of God.

Check out the video (by clicking on the picture below) to learn more about City to City.  Join us in praying for the church plants in existence and the ones to come!  We long to bring the gospel to our community and see them transformed by the love and grace of our Savior!

Redeemer

God on the move…

He knew what He was doing before the foundation of time (Romans 8:28-30) to make us more like Christ.  He gives us prayer so we can engage our hearts with Him.  He gives us each other (our community) so we can be tangible vessels of His goodness and grace. He gives us community + prayer so we can marvel that He hears us and how He enables His body to function so that the world may know Him.

I write to tell you today our first answer to prayer (and looking forward to many more) that we have asked for on this blog:  We had our first meeting after church today and look:

University MeetingOk you may not be able to tell, but we were expecting maybe 8-10 people, which is great, but THIRTY-TWO showed up!  We love these type of surprises!  Not just because of the number but it’s a step towards cultivating a heart in our church to reach university students.  It’s a picture of the provision of our Father.  It was awesome to hear the cool ideas coming from the brothers and sisters in that room.  There is a big task ahead of us, so I am thankful that God is providing people to step up and carry it out.  I could triple the length of this post with more details…and the other half of the story on the campus near us, but just know that God is (of course) simultaneously moving on the campus and His timing is perfect.  It really is.  We pray that encourages your heart today.  There is so much going on in the spiritual realm that we have no clue about, yet every now and then He gives us a glimpse through His eyes where we are encouraged to press on when we can’t always see where we are going.  I am thankful for this because I learn to trust Him and experience Him in ways that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Things happen in life.  We are often reminded how little control we really have.  Whether we surrender to the One who is over all things makes all the difference…

THANK YOU  for praying.  We can’t wait to share what happens next!

Oh, and we will be in the USA really soon!  Can’t wait to see whoever we can!

Why Hong Kong is strategic…

If you didn’t see it the first time… watch this video.  I heard about it when some former students from our Auburn University ministry who are teaching in SPAIN were in GERMANY and saw this on TV!  Our world just keeps getting SMALLER!

We are delighted to be a part of what He is doing in this amazing university!

Here’s another recent article about the importance of Hong Kong: HK is the Gateway to Mainland China. Pray that God would raise up students who take Him to the classrooms and eventually these type of workplaces, bringing hope and healing to the influential of Asia!

University Vision Team

We recently had a meeting with a few individuals at our church who share our heart for University students.  A professor, an investment banker, a high school teacher, a professional who put his career on pause to study at seminary… all are unique individuals with amazing hearts and gifts that God has placed around us.  We are truly thankful for these people and recognize the importance of working together.  We definitely don’t want to go at this alone, and we can’t do what’s on our hearts to do without a team.  It’s a beautiful thing when the body of Christ is working together because in that we discover more about ourselves and how He has created us. We pray that God will reveal a little more today about how He has created you to love and bring glory to Him in a unique way.

Please pray for us, and specifically, for this team and the work ahead.  We will have a meeting open to the entire church on March 20 to see who is interested to serve.

  • We are asking God to cultivate the hearts of our church body to come around University students and reach out to them in a meaningful way.  Pray with us for people to be burdened and broken for the students and the reality that they do not know or experience the Gospel.
  • Pray we would not create needs out of our own desires but rather respond to needs that God shows to us.  Out of His heart, we want to care for and love people more than check “service” off the to-do list.

May our lives be genuine and authentic so that more would know the truth that sets us free!!
